Stay Safe with Skillmatics
Learning how to be safe has never been more important for your kids! Our free printable Stay at Home Safety Kit contains a set of educational activities to teach kids how to be safe in a fun and interactive manner. Below are the 3 components of this kit!
1. Do-It-Yourself Non-Stitch Mask
The US Centers for Disease Control now recommends that all Americans wear face masks in public to reduce transmission of Covid-19. Because there are widespread shortages of medical-grade face masks individuals are largely making face masks at home.
We have given two alternatives for you and your child to make a mask at home.
Version 1 – The t-shirt face mask : All you need is an old t-shirt and a pair of scissors.
Version 2- The handkerchief face mask – All you need is a square cloth and rubber bands (hair ties).
Both versions require 3 simple steps to make a perfectly functional mask. By covering your mouth, you have now protected those around you, and the better the fit, the more you’re going to also protect yourself.
2. Guess in 10 Card Game – Safety Edition
Guess in 10 is one of our best-selling product lines. We’ve come up with a special Safety Edition to ensure children learn about everything related to keeping themselves safe through an exciting card game! We provide you 15 free Game Cards to play with.
The game play is simple – each player asks up to 10 intelligent questions to guess the word on the Game Card. Some of the questions that can be asked are :
Is this something you wear? Does doing this help prevent the spread of germs? Is this a form of entertainment? and so on.
First person to guess more Game Cards correctly wins the game!
3. Weekly Planner
It’s very important to ensure your kids are in a routine even when they are at home. It’s important that they do no think they are on holiday and fall back on learning.
We’ve provided a printable weekly planner which can help in the following ways
a) Helps kids stay on track – It will keep your child focused, organised and on track with daily tasks, goals and activities!
b) Ensure a daily routine – There can be some elements on the weekly planner that have to be done daily such as reading, online learning, or even daily chores like making their bed or washing their dishes.
c) Help kids be creative – By ensuring your child uses a weekly planner it will help him or her get creative with the kind of activities they would wish to do daily!
